
Fury Storms Lake Cumberland - Round two of the 2009 Offshore Super Series
(May 25, 2009) - FOND DU LAC, Wis., May 20, 2009 – Guy Costa of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad,
and throttleman Ray Delaney of Sarasota, Fla., piloted Fury, a 38-foot Doug
Wright catamaran hull powered by twin Mercury
Racing 850 SCi race engines coupled with Mercury Racing dry-sump
Six drives, to win the Offshore Super Series (OSS) 850 class race Sunday,
May 17, in Lake Cumberland, Ky. The race was round two of the 2009 Offshore
Super Series.
Wil Ros of Baton Rouge, La., and throttleman Jay Muller of Upper Saddle River,
N.Y., piloted WHM Motorsports, a Skater catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing
850 SCi race engines coupled with Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives, to finish
second. Ros, driver of the OSS Cat Lite competitor Popeyes Famous Chicken, sat
in for WHM Motorsports owner and driver Billy Mauff of East Setauket, N.Y. Team
CRC rounded out third in OSS 850 class competition. All were powered by Mercury
Racing 850 SCi race sterndrive engine packages.
OSS Cat Lite
Paul Whittier of Yarrow Point, Wash., and veteran throttleman Bob Teague of
Valencia, Calif., piloted Team AMSOIL, a Skater 368 catamaran powered by twin
Mercury Racing 525
EFI engines coupled with Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives and Mercury
Racing CNC cleaver propellers to win the OSS Cat Lite competition. Ray Contreras
of Forked River, N.J., and Harry Clack of Lafayette, La., piloted TeamPropStop.net,
a Skater 388 catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI race engines coupled
to Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives, to a second place finish. Lucas Oil (formerly
known as Peppers Racing),and Popeyes Famous Chicken rounded out the 3-4 places.
All were powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI race sterndrive engine packages.
OSS Vee Lite
Mark and Jenni Seeser Dunbar of Highlandville, Mo., piloted Under Destruction/Boatfloater,
a 30-foot Phantom hull powered by a single Mercury Racing 525 EFI engine, to
win their second straight OSS Vee Lite competition. Typhoon, IMCO/Lucas and
Pirate Racing rounded out 2-4. All were powered by single Mercury Racing 525
EFI race sterndrive engine packages.
OSS Vee
Brett Lee Furshman of Coral Springs, Fla., and Billy Glueck of Osprey, Fla.,
piloted Miccosukee Indian Gaming, a 38-foot Fountain hull powered by twin Mercury
Racing 525 EFI engines coupled with Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives, to win
their second consecutive OSS Vee race of the season.
OSS Cat Outboard
Powered by twin Mercury 2.5 EFI Race Offshore outboards, Stihl Offshore Racing,
a 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran with Robert Noble Jr. of Orlando, Fla., behind
the wheel, and Grant Bruggemann of Cooper City, Fla., on the throttles, won
the OSS Cat Outboard competition. Fluid Sealing Products placed second. All
were powered by twin Mercury 2.5 EFI Race Offshore outboards.
